National Day is always very special day for everyone, one of the highlights of our year here at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi.
Our celebration of the 47th anniversary of the UAE was no exception and if anything, even more special than any of our events so far.
We started with a whole school assembly which included the singing of National Anthem which was signed by some of our Year 8 Emirati students. This was followed by poems about the UAE in Arabic and English, read by some of our Senior School pupils and then a performance of traditional Emirati dance. The assembly concluded with Mr Wilson speaking about the importance of setting goals to celebrate National Day.
Parents, children and staff then made their way to the field which looked absolutely spectacular, with an exhibition of photos of Sheikh Zayed commemorating the Year of Zayed and the 100th anniversary of his birth. There were camel and horse rides, falcons, salukis and henna. Wonderful performances included a selection of songs from ‘Water in the Desert – A Zayed Legacy’ and everyone enjoyed a sumptuous feast. A truly memorable occasion.
