Arabic is the fifth most commonly spoken language in the world. It is the official language in over 20 countries and there are well over 300 million native speakers of the language worldwide. It is an official language at the United Nations, the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Conference and the African Union. It is the language of the Qu’ran.
Arabic Language is taught to both native and non-native pupils as part of the normal school curriculum and in line with the guidance given by the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).
The Arabic curriculum focuses on developing each pupil’s confidence to communicate both orally and on paper. Teaching and learning looks at different aspects of the Arabic language through speaking, listening, reading and writing.
