Alongside our broad and varied curriculum, we provide a rich after-school programme in Pre-Prep that supports pupils’ all-round development. We believe that developing an early appreciation and enjoyment of a range of skills or hobbies can bring lifelong enrichment and personal development. The activities are run by Pre-Prep staff and external organisations.
In addition to physical development and the exploration of interests, pupils learn the thrill of challenge and competition, the importance of concentration, the spirit of teamwork and a sense of accomplishment. The activities help to develop social skills and confidence. There are also positive emotional and physical health benefits for children involved in sports activities.
The majority of activities run from 2:45-3:30 and are for Year 1 and 2 pupils as a ‘bridge’ between the Pre-Prep school finish at 2:30 and the Prep school finish at 4:30. Most Year 1 and 2 pupils stay for an average of one or two activities per week. There are a limited number of FS2 activities as we believe that the day is long enough for children already for their age.
The children can choose from a wide selection of opportunities after the school day enabling them to have fun whilst developing their own interests. We continually review our range of options to ensure that we offer the best selection for the children. Our current selection of activities includes fitness, karate, dance, swimming, parkour, cricket, ballet, little Ruckers’ rugby, cooking, Rainbows, arts and crafts, MAD Science, Public Speaking, chess and robotics.
