Dance

The study of dance sparks creativity across our curriculum, encouraging students to develop as inquisitive, disciplined and determined individuals. Through improvisation, experimentation and collaborative sharing, our learners unlock their innate creativity, helping to shape Cranleigh Abu Dhabi pupils into confident learners unafraid to accept challenges and take creative risk.

We pride ourselves in providing the opportunity for all pupils, regardless of gender to dance as part of the Physical Education curriculum from Years 3 - 9. Dance supports wider learning at Cranleigh through a cross-curricular approach, with emphasis on developing confidence, self-esteem and teamwork.

Making dances is an act of progress; it is an act of growth, an act of music, an act of teaching, an act of celebration, an act of joy.

Dance Choreographer

Dance in the Senior School

Dance is offered as a GCSE subject in Years 10 and 11. Students are challenged to develop their understanding of different dance styles through performance, creation and appreciation. Creativity matures through collaborative problem solving; where learners are encouraged to effectively communicate their ideas and meaning through verbal and written communication. Students become aware of how dance is used as a means of communication as they explore six professional works focusing on the movementment content and the production elements that accompany each piece.
