What a privilege for some of our dancers this week as they joined NYUAD students at a workshop with award winning contemporary British dancer, Aakash Odedra. During the two-hour session, dancers worked on rhythms, footwork and arm movements inspired by classical Indian dance styles such as Kathak in which Aakash is an expert.
Aakash is currently in residence NYUAD Arts Center choreographing a new ensemble work that explores the relevance of a life in conflict. Called, #JeSuis, the piece: “…brings the lens upon a group of dancers whose place in the world is presented by the media as unwanted neighbours, countries where human catastrophes are a daily given.”
#JeSuis will have its world premiere at the NYUAD Arts Center on February 7th 2018. More information here.
