Vacancy for Year 2 Teaching Assistant

We have a vacancy for teaching assistant (TA) in Year 2 and are looking for someone who is passionate about learning and helping children to achieve their potential.

TAs mainly work with pupils within the classroom but sometimes they take children to an adjoining area or room – where they might listen to children reading or carry out another activity with a small group of children. TAs also carry out tasks that allow the class teacher to concentrate on teaching; they might prepare the classroom for a certain lesson (e.g. setting up equipment for a maths lesson), tidy up at the end of a session, or put together displays of children’s work. TAs need to have good reading, writing and numeracy skills, as well as good organisational and communication skills.

Ideally, TAs need to have either had some experience as a TA in another school or of volunteering in a school (perhaps you’ve been helping pupils with their reading) or have worked with children before (you might have helped run an activity for children in your neighbourhood). It’s not essential to have this kind of experience, but it is advantageous. TAs in Pre-Prep work from 7:30 until 3:00 term time only apart from two working days before the beginning of the Autumn Term.

What makes an award-winning school?

Cranleigh Abu Dhabi Senior School Building

Well-structured academic and co-curricular programmes are important, as are great facilities, but by far the most significant critical success factor is the quality and energy of the staff team.

Here at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, we place the highest onus on recruitment and retention to ensure our students receive the world class education they deserve. Our first recruitment drive saw over 1800 applications for 64 posts and we continue to have very high ratios of candidates when a post becomes available – usually for expansion reasons. We are often staggered by the quality of applicants we have to decline as a result of the strength of the field, inclusive of high demand subjects like Physics and Maths.

Consistency is essential to the successful implementation of our vision and our staff retention rate of 90% speaks for itself. Cranleigh parents can be sure that their children are receiving ongoing high standards of teaching and learning, which have been the hallmarks of our success to date.

Working For Cranleigh Abu Dhabi

Cranleigh Abu Dhabi stands in beautiful and spacious grounds of 18 acres, in a prime location between the Cultural and Beach Districts of Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi. Within a two kilometre radius of the school, pupils and staff have access to the cultural and leisure high spots of the city: Louvre Abu Dhabi, which is scheduled to open in 2017 and in the future, the Guggeinheim Abu Dhabi and Zayed National Museum. The beautiful Saadiyat Beach is on our doorstep with the Saadiyat Beach Golf Club and New York University just a stone’s throw away.

The school will grow to around 1500 pupils over the next few years. Class size is restricted to an average of 18 per class. To support this growth, we aim to recruit the very best staff available. Attractive packages reflect the professionalism of our staff and the value we place on them.

Cranleigh Abu Dhabi has separate Junior (Pre-Prep and Prep) and Senior Schools; separate Science, Art and Design Technology Departments with first class resources; two Music Departments; two libraries; a large sports hall, with separate gymnasium and a dance studio; two swimming pools; extensive playgrounds and two grass pitches; an impressive theatre and separate ‘black box’ drama teaching space and Recital Hall.

A great source of strength is the close partnership with Cranleigh School in Surrey, UK. Significant collaboration in curriculum development, policies and ethos ensures the highest possible international standards are maintained.

Cranleigh Abu Dhabi is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all its employees and volunteers to share this commitment. All employees resident in the UAE are subject to the laws of the United Arab Emirates and the regulations of the Abu Dhabi Education Council.

Cranleigh Abu Dhabi is an Equal Opportunities employer. Only applications submitted on the School’s Application Form will be considered.
