Musicals

Musicals are a joy of every school and at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi this is a wonderful opportunity for all areas of the Performing Arts faculty to come together.

Previous musicals have included ‘The Wiz’, 'Thoroughly Modern Millie’ and ‘Little Shop of Horrors’. Senior and Prep school musicals occur every other year. 

Plays

Both Prep and Senior students have the opportunity to perform in a wide range of plays at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi. Highlights so far have included The Wind in the Willows, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and The Trial. These events have helped develop confidence, communication, cooperation and much more. The superior drama facilities that pupils have available to them bring the calibre of production to a very high level. Talent, creativity and confidence is developed in a unique progressive way in this space. 

Dance Companies

We have a wide and varied co curricular dance program at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, from Contemporary to Ballet to Hip Hop. Each year our audition process is highly competitive as students in years 3 -13 hope to be selected for one of our dance performance teams. With a culture of resilience, hard work and professional discipline, these students are given many opportunities to perform; from our annual BSME Dance invitational to whole school Performing Arts events.

This year has also seen our first ever Boys Dance Company and we are excited to be offering all students the opportunity to dance, whether through our internal classes, Ballet examinations (Turning Pointe), or recreational dance classes (Body Tree).

ISTA Drama Festival

Cranleigh Abu Dhabi have been proud members of ISTA (International Schools Theatre Association) since 2016, attending festivals in Oman, Bahrain, as well as hosting our very own event in 2019. 

ISTA says “Our world depends on confident, internationally minded, collaborative and culturally literate young people who are empowered to engage with and change the world. ISTA brings together young people, artists and teachers from different countries in different settings to experience, create and learn about theatre. ”

Cranleigh looks forward to participating in many more opportunities in the future. 

BSME Dance Invitational 

Each year Cranleigh Abu Dhabi is proud to welcome BSME (British Schools Middle East)  schools from across the region to take part in the annual Dance Invitational event. Working from a unified theme, schools develop and share their innovative ideas for a dance performance in one busy and action-packed weekend.

The talent and creativity of young dancers within the UAE is celebrated as all students collaborate to develop a large ensemble performance and partake in workshops with dance industry professionals. Finally, our dancers showcase their passion for dance in a cumulative dance performance held in our professional theatre space.
